2010 Board Member Profiles

Jennifer Spradlin, President
Jennifer Spradlin has been a practicing paralegal for 11 years and has experience in both the corporate sector and law firm environment. She is currently employed as a Finance Property Manager II by Cricket Communications, Inc., where she works in the areas of telecommunications, commercial real estate and corporate law. She also has experience in workers’ compensation, transactional, litigation and regulatory law. Jennifer earned her Paralegal Certificate from Southeastern Paralegal Institute in 1999 and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Ohio Northern University in 1997. A frequent speaker on the “Benefits of MTPA Membership” and “Traditional/Non-traditional Roles of a Paralegal” at the various paralegal schools in and around the Nashville area, she has also been a guest speaker at the Institute for Paralegal Education’s seminar entitled “Organization and Time Management Strategies for Paralegals: How to Get the Most Out of Your Day.”
Jennifer has been a member of MTPA since 2000 and a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations since 2001. She has served as 1st Vice President – Membership of the MTPA for the past three years and also served as President Elect in 2008. Her community service activities include involvement as both a participant and Team Leader of the American Diabetes Association’s annual Walk on the Wild Side fundraiser, Vacation Bible School teacher at St. Edward Church and member of the Nashville Area Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity. She also serves on the Advisory Board for Kaplan Career Institute's paralegal program.

Kasey Frank, Vice President
Kasey Frank has been a practicing paralegal for 5 years. She is currently employed as a Litigation Paralegal at Miller & Martin PLLC, where she works in the areas of commercial litigation, labor & employment law and litigation technology/trial support. She also has experience in transportation & collections, bankruptcy & creditors’ rights, medical malpractice, general liability, commercial real estate, public finance, family law, and longshore & workers’ compensation. Kasey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Criminology from Louisiana State University in 2004 and her Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Paralegal Studies from Kaplan University in 2006. Kasey became a Certified Paralegal in the State of Tennessee in 2009. She is currently working on a Master’s degree in Conflict Management at Lipscomb University and expects to graduate in December 2010. Kasey is also Co-Owner of Imperative Investigations & Legal Services, LLC and is a Licensed Private Investigator in the State of Tennessee.
Kasey has been a member of MTPA since and a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations and the National Association of Legal Assistants since 2007. She is also a member of the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Humane Society of the United States. Her community services include volunteering at Bordeaux Elementary and Critter Cavalry Animal Rescue in Franklin, TN. She also served as a Member of the Board of Directors and as the Fundraising Chair for St. Francis Animal Rescue in Nashville, TN from 2008-2009.

Theresa Crow, Director of Programming
Theresa Crow earned a Master’s degree as well as a paralegal degree and certificate from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, and has been a practicing paralegal for 29 years. Over the years, she has worked in the areas of administrative law, commercial real estate, contract law, corporate, domestic relations, education law, estate planning and probate, immigration, litigation (including commercial, employment/labor, environmental, insurance, personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, and school board defense), regulatory (including banking and investments), telecommunications, and transactional. Theresa’s experience has been in both the law firm environment and the corporate sector. She is currently employed as the Risk Management Specialist performing contract review, revision, negotiation, and drafting at Gresham, Smith and Partners, Inc., an architectural/engineering/interior design firm.
Theresa is serving her third term on the Board of Directors (she served as Scholarship Director in 2008 and Director of Programming in 2009), but she has been a member of MTPA since 1999 when she began working in Nashville. She became a member of NFPA in 2001. Her community volunteer activities include: serving on the Friends of the Humane Society of Dickson County board, serving as chapter advisor (and numerous other advisor capacities) for a university sorority chapter, functioning as a network specialist (in finance, public relations, recruitment, and Panhellenic) for an international sorority, and as a participant in various fundraisers for the American Cancer Society.

Amber King, Director of Operations-Secretary
Amber King is employed by the law firm of Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin PLLC (GSRM) as its corporate paralegal. Holding this position since 2008, her primary areas of responsibility include entity formations, business transactions, commercial real estate transactions, and general corporate law. Additional duties include serving as a member of GSRM’s Marketing Task Force and as legal assistant to George V. Crawford, Jr. Amber is currently in her 10th year at GSRM.
Serving the legal community since 1990, with employment ranging from receptionist to “floater” legal secretary, Amber advocates the concept of doing whatever it takes to add value to a law firm and its goal of providing exceptional client service.
Amber received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1994 from Middle Tennessee State University for studies in Criminal Justice Administration, Psychology, and Political Science. In 2008 she graduated from Kaplan Career Institute with honors and received her ABA-approved General Practice Paralegal Certificate. Amber periodically assists Kaplan by speaking to new students about the paralegal profession.
Amber is serving her first term as a board member for the MTPA. Community interests include supporting animal shelters such as the Humane Society of Sumner County. Hobbies include rooting for her favorite NHL team, the Nashville Predators.

Gail McKinnon, Director of Finance-Treasurer
Gail McKinnon has over 13 years experience as a practicing paralegal within corporate legal departments of major healthcare companies. Her practice areas include general corporate law, regulatory law, securities, and mergers and acquisitions. She is currently employed as a corporate paralegal with Pet DRx Corporation. She previously worked for LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. in the practice area of corporate and securities law. Gail earned her Paralegal Certificate from Southeastern Paralegal Institute (now Kaplan Career Institute) and her Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University.
Gail has been a member of Middle Tennessee Paralegal Association (“MTPA”) since 1998 and is also a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. She is currently serving as Director of Finance of MTPA and held the position of Treasurer on the 2007 MTPA Board of Directors. She has been actively involved with the MTPA Scholarship Committee since 2005.
